2012 BMW M6 Rendering Based on Paris Show Concept Car

BMW fan-boy and talented photoshop artist Gerald Alvarez (aka Bimmerpost forum member Alpine325ci), continues his series of future BMW renderings, this time with a new 'chop of the next generation M6 sports coupe. Alvarez used the freshly revealed at last week's Paris Motor Show, Concept 6-Series Coupe, as the base car to create the M6 rendering adding typical 'M' model styling traits such as the bumper, side skirt and alloy wheel designs.

BMW’s Concept 6 Series Coupe Live from Paris: What do You Think? [Updated]

*Post has now been updated with a video of the car from the Paris Show floor featuring BMW's Design Director Adrian Van Hooydonk

Here are the first live pictures of BMW's Concept 6 Series Coupe at the Paris Motor Show. As previously reported, this is nothing more than a thinly disguised 2011 6 Series Coupe, which is set to arrive in showrooms next year with straight-six and V8 engine options.

VIDEO: BMW Clip Shows 6-Series Coupe Concept Inside and Out

While not the action-packed video we were hoping for, nevertheless, here are the first official clips of BMW's Concept 6-Series Coupé that will take center stage at the firm's Paris Motor Show stand next week.

The two new promotional videos walk us around the exterior as well as the interior of the Bavarian GT. Despite being billed as a concept, the production version of the 6-Series Coupe, which is expected to arrive in showrooms next year, will only get some minor styling changes such as more subtle tail pipe and exterior mirror designs. Scroll down to watch both videos.

My Two Dents on the New BMW 6-Series Coupe Concept

Finally, we've gotten a glimpse at the new 6-Series Coupe. Not the Gran Coupe nor the Gran Turismo, but the actual, factual, second-gen new 6-Series. Although it's technically called a concept, you know what we're dealing with. This is supposed to be BMW's big GT, but when picturing it on the street next to a Maserati GranTurismo for example, the car just doesn't impress on a major scale. It's not all bad, though.

BMW to Preview New 6-Series Coupe with Concept at Paris

Officially called the "BMW Concept 6 Series Coupé", what you are looking at here is a thinly masked concept of the next 6-Series Coupe and it will make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show on September 30.

Those who expected the new BMW 6-Series to look like a two-door version of the misleadingly named Concept Gran Coupe sports sedan showed on the sidelines of the Beijing Show back in April, may pat themselves in the back.

In a nutshell, out goes the controversial styling of the Bangle-era 6-Series and in comes Adrian van Hooydonk's (the new BMW design Chief) sleeker and more elegant but also far less adventurous design lines.

How do You Say Boring in German? New Teaser Video of Mystery BMW

One more teaser like this and we will probably follow BMW's advice and never blog about this electric-thingamajig again... Now, let's see the Bavarians adding this quote on their "dontblogaboutthis" website... Those that don't mind wasting 34 seconds of their time to watch a black prototype with skinny wheels being loaded on a truck in slow motion may follow the jump for the video.

Dontblogaboutthis: New Video and Photos of BMW's Mystery Coupe

Dontblogaboutthis: BMW Teases Oddball 6 Series Concept

BMW has put up a new website called "Don't Blog About This" that shows an odd-looking 6-Series concept of some sort. While obviously based on the current generation (and soon to be replaced) 6-Series coupe, the matte-black car featured on the teaser videos and photos gets a low slung front end reminiscent of the Vision EfficientDynamics concept and tall but thin tires (195 if we're not mistaken) pushed out and housed under blistered wheel arches.

A 5-Series Convertible? Nowadays, Anything's Possible with BMW...

Carscoop Reader Mihkel sent in his rendering of a [previous generation, E60] 5-Series Convertible (see a one off E34 M5 Cabrio here) , a type of car BMW would probably be willing to consider the way it's been blitzing the market with redundant models lately... Someone over in Munich has been drinking the Kool-Aid, because what was once a nice, solid lineup has gotten bloated with "interesting" variants trying to fill every niche possible.

BMW Development Chief Confirms Gran Coupe, will Launch in 2012 with Prices Aligned with the 6-Series

After months of speculation, gossip and rumors, a BMW official has confirmed the production of the Gran Coupé, a four door sports sedan designed to take on the upcoming Audi A7 and next Mercedes-Benz CLS, as well as the Porsche Panamera.

Speaking with Autoweek, the company's development chief Klaus Draeger said the Gran Coupé will launch in 2012, a year after the debut of the next generation of the 6-series Coupe in 2011.

Draeger said the production version of the Gran Coupé, which was shown as a thinly disguised concept on the sidelines of the Beijing Auto Show in April, will be "closely aligned" with the 6-series coupe both in terms of technology/platform, and pricing. In the US, the current 650i starts from $78,450, while in Germany, the entry-level 630i costs €70,450.

From Concept to Reality: BMW's 6-Series Coupe and Convertible [E63/E64]

BMW's current generation 6-Series, codenamed E63 in coupe flavor and E64 as a convertible, had some big (if not terribly successful) shoes to fill when it came out as a 2004 model. Meant to be a spiritual successor to BMW's 'sharky' 1980s 6-Series, it took over "big GT" duties after the 8-Series was retired in 1999.

However, instead of offering a V12 in its top-range model, BMW went instead with the F1-inspired 5.0 liter V10 powerhouse to create a new M6 with an SMG III transmission and a carbon fiber roof.

Much like Chris Bangle's 7-Series and 5-Series models, the new 6-Series was a bold move away from the Bavarian firm's stagnant (but undeniably classic) lines and into fresh styling territory.

Supercar Concepts from the Swansea Metropolitan University Degree Show

Automotive design students from UK's Swansea Metropolitan University tapped into the deepest wells of their imagination to create their final year projects and exhibit them at the 2010 Degree Show, which was held in July at the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea Marina. Thanks to the crew over from 'Car Body Design', we can show you some of the conceptual projects that were on display.

These include the Alfa Romeo Stradale 50, a mid-engined supercar said to combine the curvy lines of the 8C Competizione with the more angular detailing of the 159 and Brera; the Duesenberg 2100 that revives the iconic brand from Indiana with a futuristic take on the Art Deco theme; the exotic BMW Formula 1; the Ginetta G80 sports coupe and last but not least, the Aston Martin Viceroy. BMW Drops First Official Photo of Megacity EV, Enters Production in 2013

[Updated] We've known for a long time that BMW is developing an advanced, electrically driven model currently known as the Megacity, but today the German automaker released the first official teaser photo of the city car. Granted, the rendering doesn't reveal the Megacity in full detail, but it gives us an idea of what to expect when the car enters production in 2013.

We're still short on details but we do know that the base model shown in this rendering will be a four-seater powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that draws its juice from a set of batteries. BMW has also revealed that the production version of the Megacity will make extensive use of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP).

If you follow the jump, you can see pictures of an experimental vehicle platform made from CFRP undergoing various tests at BMW's development center. We'll keep you updated on any additional information we receive.

If Batman Drove a Bimmer... BMW Concept X9 Concept by Khalfi Oussama

If the Dark Knight ever wanted to ditch the Tumbler for something a bit more snazzy, Khalfi Oussama's BMW-badged X9 Concept would be a prime candidate for the job - preferably in a matter black finish. The 18-year old designer from Tunisia did not attach any information about the X9 Concept, but feel free to check out the rest of the pictures and have you say in the comments section after the jump.

Styling of Future BMW GT/Hatchbacks Previewed in Video Shot?

We're not entirely sure of what to make of these BMW drawings for what looks like a proposal for a future compact GT or maybe a hatchback model that we captured from a recent official video released by the Bavarian automaker.

For one, we don't remember seeing these drawings before, however we could be mistaken, in which case, don't hesitate to let us know in the comments section below.

Recent or not, the car or cars appear to incorporate the many styling cues of the latest bimmers such as the 2011 5-Series, including the strong beltline crease and the headlight / tail lamp design, but with a entirely new interpretation of double-kidney grille that harks back to the pre-Bangle-era BMWs. Rumorville: BMW Gran Coupé Concept Coming with 6-Series Badge in 2012

An unnamed BMW source has allegedly told British car magazine Autocar that the Bavarian firm's Gran Coupé sports sedan concept will enter production in the second quarter of 2012. Furthermore, the BMW insider said that the production model will most likely carry a 6-series badge.

If true, we're guessing that the sedan will also bear a second moniker in the likes of the 5-Series GT to avoid confusing with the two-door coupe and convertible models of the 6-Series.

Xenatec Shows Off its "Dream Cars": Bentley SUV, BMW 6-Series Sedan and More

Now that their limited production Maybach 57S Coupe (see here) has made the rounds, here are some of the other proposals from Xenatec. Since the company's specialty is chassis modification (and the necessary body work thereafter), they've got some ideas for a lengthened (and shortened) "dream cars".

Have a look at the gallery below and see what tickles your fancy. The SUV limos are a bit much, but the rag-top conversions don't look too bad (especially the CLS and 300).
