The onslaught of Ford's SEMA Show tuning products continues, this time with a sneak peek of the firm's F-Series truck proposals that will make their way to the Las Vegas Convention Center on November 2. Hot Hatch Smackdown Poll: Ford Focus ST vs Opel GTC

With both the Ford Focus ST and Opel GTC set to debut in Paris, the hot hatch world is astir. If you're in a "global" market and interested in going fast on the cheap, these are looking to be two serious contenders.

The big difference here is shaping to be extra output in a traditionally showy hot-hatch package, or a sleek and sophisticated ride with potentially less power. But first, a joke: what would a diesel Ford Focus ST be called? Think about it.

Ford Focus ST Paris Show Car with 250HP 2.0L Turbo Unveiled, Available Worldwide from 2012

Revealed today ahead of its planned debut at the Paris Motor Show, is the all-new Ford Focus ST. Shown here in pre-production form, the hottest member of the new Focus family (that is, until Ford decides to present a successor to the RS), will go on sale in "all global markets" from early 2012, following the introduction of the mainstream Focus models in Spring of 2011. We assume that by "all global markets", Ford means the performance version of the new Focus will also be sold in the States, with or without (SVT?) the ST badge.

Based on the five-door version of the new Focus, the ST is visually differentiated from its regular brethren through a dare-we-say (and not in a positive way), tuner-like bodykit.

The styling package includes a new front bumper with a 'gaping mouth' grille and additional air ducts, side skirts, a larger roof spoiler and a rear apron with air vents and central exhaust pipes. The show car is finished in a new color Ford calls 'Tangerine Scream' while the ST also gets a set of beefy 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/35 ZR 19 rubber.

Honda Civic Coupe Owner Bluffs his Way into Ford Show by Rebadging it as a Ghia Ford Capri Concept...

For most of us -hopefully- the car pictured above is nothing more than a Honda Civic Si Coupe with Ford logos and decals. But somehow, the owner of the Blue-Oval-badged Civic, Roger Grenon, managed to pass it on as a "very rare 2007 European Ford Capri RS Mark IV Concept car" designed by none other than "Carrozzeria Ghia SpA" at a Ford-only car show.

"I was told that I was not allowed to enter my car into an 'All Ford' Car Show so I made this up," says Grenon. Basically, all he did is swap the 'H' logos with blue ovals and add some RS, SVT and Capri decals. And oh, he also came up with an amusing vehicle history sheet that he post on the "Carpi Concept's" window (read it after the jump).

"Some people were fooled, some were confused, some were downright angry," Grenon said. "The main guy that was sponsoring the show was pissed off [wonder why..]. I heard him say "we are not giving this car a f'ng award!"

Designer Revives Ford Thunderbird with Hardtop Roadster Concept

The last time we saw the Thunderbird nameplate in Ford's lineup was in 2005, and from what we know, the Detroit automaker has no immediate plans to revive it. Nevertheless, this hasn't stopped Brazilian designer Eduardo Oliveira from coming up with a conceptual proposal for a new Ford Thunderbird model with a retractable hardtop.

Beijing Auto Show: Ford's Fiat 500-fighting Start Concept

Debuting at the Beijing International Auto Show, Ford's Start Concept is being advertised as the first true concept from Ford in three years.

Design messiah J Mays explained the Start's slippery lines: "We didn't set out to design some sort of utilitarian concept to save the world, nor were we interested in following the competitive trend toward an overly noisy design language." Right on.

Powering the Start Concept is a 1.0 liter, 3-cylinder "near-production" Ecoboost engine. With an emissions target of below 100g/km, output comparable to that of a 4-cylinder, and a 6-speed manual transmission, the Start looks like a technological home-run. And that's before you see the sporty, minimalist, tech-heavy interior.

From Concept To Reality: Ford's 2005 Mustang Coupe and Convertible

Ford's Mustang, the quintessential pony car, is one of the oldest nameplates in the business. During its 45+ year run, the Mustang has provided a variety of power trains under its hood, from 4-cylinders to coachbuilt (and Lamborghini-sourced) V10s.

It has also provided people with near-endless variety. From the mainstream Shelbys and California Specials (both of which have returned for up-and-coming red-light racers), to lesser-known variants like the Twister and High Country Specials, the Mustang has always offered something for everyone.

In 2005 Ford went (way) back to the drawing board, offering old-school-inspired lines for the modern age.

Designer Attempts to Create a 21st Century Ford Model T

Even though it's been more than century since the original Ford Model T revolutionized the world of transportation by bringing motoring to the masses, the iconic 'Tin Lizzy' continues to inspire designers up until these days.

With the goal of creating a modern-day car that shares the simplicity and other qualities as well as certain design elements with the original Model T, Brazilian designer Eduardo Oliveira came up with this compact crossover.

Oliveira's well executed design does bring to mind the Model T from certain angles (in a much more convincing way than the winners of Ford's Model T competition in 2008), but we could do without the gaudy front grille.

Styling elements that hark back to the original model include the pronounced wheel arches that encompass the wheels that are pushed out to the corners of the vehicle as well as the opposite angle of the lower part of the rear hatch that houses the spare tire.

Designed to be around 4.2 meters or 165-inches in length, the five-seater crossover model gets suicide-style rear doors and two exterior storage compartments located on either side of the bumper.

The designer said that the modern-day Model T could be equipped with a four-cylinder gasoline engine or better yet, a hybrid drivetrain.

Turbo Rodding: Ford to Show 1934 Hot Rod with 400HP EcoBoost V6 at SEMA

The motto "there's no replacement for displacement" that cursed characterized the US auto industry for decades seems to be losing its fad nowadays. Even classic hot rods like Ford's 1934 model are prime candidates for some modern tech under the hood. In a joint venture with Detroit Street Rods and Experi-metal, Ford has dropped its new 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 that delivers a hefty 400 horsepower and 400 ft.-lb. of torque into a 1934 coupe that will be officially revealed at the SEMA show next week.

"The decision to use the EcoBoost engine for our powertrain on this project was an easy one in that it gave us the opportunity to combine the iconic '34 Ford sculpted body lines with the advanced technology of the EcoBoost powerplant," stated Robert Smith, president of Detroit Street Rods. "The result is the perfect hot rod marriage of advanced technology for power and legendary automobile design."

This is the first time that Ford has used its new V6 turbo on a rear-wheel drive model but not the last as the EcoBoost engine will find its way under the hood of the F-150 pickup truck late next year and hopefully, on the Mustang also.

2009 Ford F-150 by Superlift

Superlift Suspension Systems has been manufacturing superbly engineered off-road suspension systems for two- and four-wheel-drive trucks for 35 years. In doing so, they were able to take the F-150 to the next level in style, appearance and performance, while keeping as much detail as possible of the original 1:64 Hot Wheels die-cast model. Superlift has taken a pedestrian F-150 and transformed it into a toy that any man, woman or child would be happy to play with.
