"Sporty" 2010 Nissan Rogue S Krom Hits the Road from $23,940

Nissan has released pricing for its new 2010 Rogue S Krom Edition that's on sale now with a starting MSRP (excluding tax, title and license fees) of $23,940 for the front-wheel drive model and $25,140 for the AWD version.

Marketed as a 'special sporty' version of the Rogue, the Krom Edition is all about looks with Nissan's definition of the term translating into blingy 17-inch alloy wheels, a center-exit sport-tuned exhaust, a specific two-bar chrome grille and a different treatment for the front and rear bumpers.

The package is finished off with a rear spoiler, rear privacy glass, body-colored exterior mirrors, a Krom emblem and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.

The Rogue S Krom Edition is offered in three exterior colors – Venom Red, Wicked Black and Gotham Gray.

There are no changes under the hood with Krom Edition featuring the standard 170-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine coupled to Nissan's Xtronic continuously variable transmission.

Nissan Announces 2010 Rogue SUV Krom Special Edition [Updated Gallery]

It seems that Nissan believes that the factory-prepped Cube Krom revealed earlier this year was successful enough to justify the presentation of a similar special edition version of its Rogue crossover. Set to go on sale at Nissan's U.S. dealers in December 2009, the Rogue Krom features several cosmetic upgrades including a unique grille treatment and a new front bumper with a side air-inlets, 17-inch brilliant finish alloy wheels with P225/60R Continental Conti 4x4 Contact tires and a restyled rear bumper with integrated center-exit twin tail pipes.

The body-colored rear spoiler and exterior mirrors, tinted windows and Krom emblems plus steering wheel-mounted audio controls complete the equipment modifications on the special edition Rogue which is based on the 'S' trim model.

"The new Krom edition expands Rogue's already strong appeal, bringing its unmistakable sporty and active design to buyers seeking to stand out from the crowd of ordinary compact SUVs," said Pat Steiner, director, Specialty Vehicles Group, Nissan North America. "Just as our NISMO models add enhanced performance straight from the factory, the Krom lineup offers intriguing, customized design right off the showroom floor," he added.

Nissan has yet to disclose pricing on the 2010 Rogue Krom Edition.

The package is priced at $1,040, and according to Nissan, it offers buyers a $1,000 savings compared to purchasing the items separately.
