NHTSA's tests showed in the event of a frontal crash, if the front passenger is not wearing a seat belt, the risk of leg injury is higher than permitted under Federal law. It goes without saying that despite the NHTSA's findings, passengers should wear their seatbelts at all times.

Cadillac Offers [Some] Free Maintenance Services on New Models

GM's luxury division, Cadillac, announced today that its 2011MY lineup in the U.S. will come with a new free maintenance program covering certain items for the entire length of the bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage, which is four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The program is called "Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance" and it covers scheduled oil changes, tire rotations, replacement of engine and cabin air filters and a multi-point vehicle inspection.

This means Cadillac's program covers less items/services than other automakers in the U.S. like BMW and Lincoln (see below). For example, BMW's 'Ultimate Service" includes oil changes, inspection services, wiper blade inserts, brake pads, brake discs, engine drive belts and brake fluids.

New York Show: Cadillac's 2011 CTS-V Wagon puts the Germans on Alert

Cadillac has officially cranked its CTS Sport Wagon to 11, and it'll be on-hand at the upcoming New York International Auto Show.

Powered by the CTS-V's 556-horsepower 6.2 liter LSA and billed as a pre-production show car (kind of like Buick's Regal GS), the CTS-V Sport Wagon will be previewing what Cadillac expects to have in dealerships before the end of the year.

Painted in Midnight Silver paint cribbed from the Sixteen concept, the show car's interior will leather/Alcantara-trimmed seats, a leather-trimmed upper dashboard, and Sapele wood trim (from the Sapele tree, which is indigenous to tropical Africa).

Cadillac wants to "Conquer" the European Luxury Market - Again...

Those folks holding the reins over at General Motors are a funny bunch. Every so often then they announce some grand scheme to enter Europe's extremely competitive premium automotive market with their Cadillac brand.

After GM's most recent fiasco with Kroymans, a Dutch distributor that sold Cadillacs in Europe before declaring bankruptcy last year, the U.S. automaker will now establish its own organization, called "Cadillac Europe" that will import, distribute and market a selected range of models specified for the Euro market.

"Europe is an important market for Cadillac," says Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac general manager. "Re-establishing distribution of our premium offerings is good news for those who seek import exclusiveness".

Of course many Europeans have associated Cadillac's "import exclusiveness" with products such as the now discontinued BS BLS that was essentially a re-skined Saab 9-3 which in turn was heavily based on the Opel Vectra, but anyway.

At the Geneva Motor Show, Cadillac will give Europeans a taste of their newest products including the CTS Coupe that's sated to arrive in North American showrooms this summer and this fall in Europe as well as the new CTS Sport Wagon, CTS Sport Sedan, the range-topping 556HP CTS-V, the SRX crossover and the "oh so European" Escalade Hybrid.

No word on any diesel or small displacement gasoline engines. That said, we suspect that Cadillacs will continue to be a more rare sight than pink-colored Aston Martins on European roads.

Cadillac Lets the Sport Drip Down Through the CTS Ranks with New Recaro Seats

Cadillac's CTS is looking to infuse a little more pep into its luxurious step with the addition of Recaro buckets that are inherited from its rip-roaring steroid-infused twin, the 556-horsepower CTS-V. To outfit the Performance or Premium-trimmed CTS with Recaros, customers will end up dropping $2,800.

For that money, however, Cadillac says the seats provide 14 ways of adjusting comfort, including back/thigh buffers, seat cushion extenders, and French-stitched leather, along with the basics: microsuede inserts and that heating and cooling so many people love.

The Recaro seats will be available on both standard and V'd coupes and sedans, with no mention of the Sport Wagon.

If Cadillac wants the CTS to compete globally, they're going to need to have a sport/performance package on the wagon also available with those Recaros.

Just because the idea of an all-wheel-drive CTS Sport Wagon outfitted with Recaros and a 6-speed-backed turbodiesel power train may not appeal to anyone but car aficionados Stateside, it doesn't mean that Cadillac has to deprive consumers from other markets of such vehicles. Standard of the World and all that.

VIDEOS: 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Presentation and Action Shots

The new XTS Sedan Concept looks promising and all but the real star at Cadillac's 2010 NAIAS booth is the 2011 CTS-V Coupe. Basically, it's a slightly more compact, two-door version of the CTS-V sedan sharing the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine with 556HP and a whopping 551 lb.-ft. of torque (747 Nm).

Offered with a choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shift control that transfer power to the rear wheels through a limited slip differential, the CTS-V Coupe is propelled from 0 to 60mph (96km/h) in a mere 3.9 seconds.

Hit the jump to check out the live photos from the Detroit Show and of course, two videos that include the official presentation and a promo film with some power-sliding action.

2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe with 556HP Supercharged V8 Unveiled Ahead of Detroit Show

This here is the ultimate iteration of Cadillac's brand-new CTS Coupe and it will make its first public outing at next week's 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. To the surprise of no one, the CTS-V Coupe packs the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine found in the sedan version. It produces a hefty 556-horsepower and 551 lb.-ft. of torque (747 Nm) propelling the 2+2 coupe from 0-60 mph (96km/h) in just 3.9 seconds.

Potential buyers will have the choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shift control, which transfer power to the rear wheels through a limited slip differential.

The V-spec model also gets Cadillac's Magnetic Ride Control with two selectable modes (Tour and Sport) and Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers in the front and four-piston calipers in the rear.

Cadillac says that the Coupe has the same wheelbase as the CTS-V Sport Sedan, but its overall height is about two inches (51 mm) lower and its overall length is two inches (51 mm) shorter while the rear track is nearly an inch wider than the four-door model.

Visually, the CTS-V Coupe is identified by its bulged hood, specific front and rear fascias, and unique 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 rubber.

There are no pictures of the interior, but Cadillac said that the steering wheel, seat inserts and shifter are covered in microfiber while the integrated center stack is trimmed in Obsidian black material that is also applied to the center console and door trim.

Available options will include an exclusive new Saffron color and special Recaro sport seats that are 14-way adjustable and include pneumatic bolster controls in the seat cushions and backrests.

We'll have more on the CTS-V Coupe after its official debut at the Detroit motor show next week.
